How to check a Solana token for a rug pull

Most Solana rug pulls share the same handful of on-chain warning signs. You can check every one of them from just the token's contract address — no wallet connection, no signing. Here's what to look for, and how CryptRing does it for you in one scan.

The 6 red flags that matter most

If a token trips several of these, treat it as high risk regardless of the hype around it.

  1. 1

    Mint authority is still active

The deployer can create unlimited new tokens and dilute every holder to zero. On a safe token this authority is revoked (renounced).

  2. 2

    Freeze authority is still active

The deployer can freeze your tokens so you can never sell — a honeypot in all but name. Look for it to be revoked.

  3. 3

    Liquidity isn't locked or burned

If the team holds the LP tokens, they can withdraw the entire pool ('pull liquidity') and leave holders with tokens they can't trade.

  4. 4

Top wallets hold most of the supply

When 10 wallets control a large share, a single coordinated sell can crash the price. Watch the dev wallet's cut especially.

  5. 5

Many wallets were funded together (bundling)

Dozens of wallets created and funded in the same few blocks usually means one actor faking distribution before a dump.

  6. 6

Liquidity is tiny next to market cap

A huge 'market cap' on thin liquidity is easy to inflate and impossible to exit at scale — the price is a mirage.

What CryptRing checks for you

Reading all of this by hand means jumping between a block explorer, a DEX and a holder map. CryptRing pulls it into one scan and scores around 20 signals across four areas into a single 0–100 RingScore.

01

Contract safety

Whether the mint and freeze authorities are still active (the dev could print or freeze tokens) and whether any token-2022 extensions can tax or block transfers. These are the fastest ways a token can turn on its holders.

02

Can you exit?

How deep the liquidity pool is, its ratio to market cap, whether the LP is burned or locked, and how thin trading is — the difference between a position you can leave and one you're trapped in.

03

Market & distribution

How concentrated supply is among the top 10 wallets, the dev's share, bundled or insider-looking wallets, plus market cap, age and activity — concentration is the clearest tell of a coordinated dump.

Frequently asked

How do I check if a Solana token is safe?

Paste the token's contract (mint) address into CryptRing. It reads the token on-chain and across Solana DEX data, scores 21 risk signals — mint and freeze authority, LP lock, holder concentration, bundled wallets and more — and returns a 0–100 RingScore with a plain-language verdict. A high score means fewer red flags were found; it is an automated risk estimate, not a guarantee.

What is a RingScore?

The RingScore is a 0–100 rating CryptRing computes from around 20 weighted risk signals. Higher is safer. The engine only scores the signals it can actually source for a given token and shows how many of the 20 were available, so a score is never inflated by data it doesn't have.

Can CryptRing detect a rug pull?

CryptRing surfaces the conditions that make a rug pull possible — an active mint authority, unlocked or unburned liquidity, extreme holder concentration, bundled or insider wallets. It cannot predict a team's future actions, so treat a good score as 'fewer obvious traps,' not a promise. Always do your own research.

Is CryptRing free?

Yes. You can scan tokens without an account. A free account adds saved scan history and raises your daily allowance to 7 scans; CryptRing Pro removes the daily limit for heavy users. No wallet connection is ever required — you only paste an address.

Do I need to connect my wallet?

No. CryptRing never asks you to connect a wallet or sign a transaction. You paste a token's contract address (or a wallet address to view a portfolio) and it reads public on-chain data — there is nothing to approve and no way for it to touch your funds.

Check a token free

RingScore is an automated risk estimate, not financial advice. It flags the conditions that enable scams but can't predict a team's actions — always do your own research.
