The seed phrase is not a password to your wallet. It is the recipe your private keys are computed from — all of them, for every account the wallet ever creates. Whoever has the words can rebuild every key on their own machine, silently, without touching your device.
Paper, offline, one place you control. That is the entire technology.
The support ticket
A trader's swap failed three times. A 'support agent' replied within minutes on Discord — helpful, patient, with the project's logo. To 'resync the wallet' he needed the recovery phrase. The trader was relieved someone finally responded, and typed it in.
The wallet was empty within ninety seconds. There was no support agent. There is never a support agent who needs the phrase.
Do
Write it on paper the moment the wallet creates it
Store it offline, in one place you control
Treat every request for it as an attack, from anyone
Don't
Photograph it, screenshot it, or paste it anywhere
Store it in notes, email, or a cloud drive
Type it into any website — a wallet app restores it locally, never through a page
You type the phrase exactly once per device: into the official wallet app, on a device you own, to restore your wallet. Every other prompt for it, anywhere, from anyone, is theft in progress.
Where this goes next
Nobody guesses a seed phrase — they ask you for it. Clone sites are how that request usually arrives; hardware puts the key out of its reach.
